What a wonderful way to Jump into March and Begin a New Week!
I am so, so, so excited about today…
I have been waiting a long time to do this..
To introduce to you…
A New Book that will be released in Less than ONE month!
And a WONDERFUL Giveaway to boot!
Written by my very wonderful and special friend- Lynnette Kraft
with Courtney Becker…
Before I review this amazingly powerful book – I would like to share a little Bio about the Author –
Lynnette Kraft adores her husband, cherishes her children and loves her life! She has grieved the death of three of her children and credits the victory of her healing to Jesus Christ. She is passionate about sharing restored joy and enduring hope with those who need it. God has proven to her that when life brings uninvited trials and heartaches, He always has a perfect plan and divine purpose. Lynnette blogs www.lynnettekraft.com where she encourages readers to live exuberant lives and continue walking with God, no matter what the circumstances.
I have been reading Lynnette’s Books since she lost her daughter Anna, in 2004. Her story is one of loss, grief, hope, and victory – and I am daily encouraged by her life of faith.
Here is a little “interview” that I knew you would want to be a part of –
1) – After writing your 1st book, Can you share with us what inspired you to begin writing a second book about your daughter? What message do you know and want people to walk away with after reading – He Heard Hannah.
I had no plans to write a second book (I actually never had plans to write a first book! Ha!) God has a way of making things happen when He wants them to happen! I’m so thankful He also told Courtney to write this with me. I couldn’t have written it without him.
It’s the desire of both of our families to glorify and honor God with this story. We continue to have spiritual goosebumps over how God worked in our lives and we want this story to be a reminder to everyone who reads it, that God is powerful and always moving and working – even behind the scenes.
2.) – If you had to share a message of Hope with another parent reading your book, that has or is grieving the loss of their child, and the pain is fresh in their hearts and lives- what would that be?
As you know September, grieving the loss of a child is devastating. It’s hard to communicate hope to a fresh griever because they feel sure that they will never completely heal. (I felt that way for a time.) I think the best way for me to communicate hope is to reveal the victory of it by displaying it. I love to share hope by sharing an abundantly joyful life. People believe what they see!
3.) -Your friendship with Courtney (the 911 Dispatcher) and his wife has been an amazing journey of the Lord weaving lives together. Can you share a little bit from your book about how Courtney re-entered your lives after taking your the 911 call your husband made for your little girl.
It wasn’t until almost 4 years later that God revealed anything to us at all, and at that point Courtney was still a little lost on his spiritual journey. I hate to give the best part of the story away, so let me just say, Kyle and I love Courtney, Jocinda and their children (Taylor and Hannah) in a very special way. Our families have a strong bond.
4.) -Your Anna had a great impact on your lives in so many ways. By knowing you personally, I have come to appreciate the tiny details in life and moments from my children because of your 1st book. Would you mind sharing with those that will be reading your book, a little bit of the joy that Anna brought to everyone in your family?
Anna was … gosh, how do you wrap up 6 ½ years of precious, hilarious, beautiful, goofy, lovely, adorable, witty, amazing memories of an immensely loved daughter in one paragraph? I guess your readers will just have to go and read my books for that part! But trust me – Anna is blessing those she lives in Heaven with… abundantly! She left her mark of love on all of us. J
5.) – While writing – He Heard Hannah – Did you know how far reaching the story of your little girl’s life and the 911 Dispatcher’s Life would weave together and reach into so many others lives?
Honestly? YES! Ha! From the moment God told me to write this story, I KNEW it would be a good one! I don’t take any of the credit either (and I know Courtney feels the same way)! We just get excited every time we realize what God did. We know people will love this story because it’s just sort of… miraculous!
6.) – Your son, Jared, has written the song that I’m playing on my blog today. Can you share a little about Anna’s love for music, and your son, Jared’s composition of this song, especially for this book.
Anna did love music. Jared was teaching her piano and she had a natural talent for it (in fact, she could play Ode to Joy by ear, with two hands (both doing the same thing) when she was a mere 2 years old!)
Jared was so excited to have the opportunity to write a theme song for He Heard Hannah. Some people speak “words” – Jared speaks “music” – words too, but I’d say music is his first language. J He was 14 years old when Anna died and I know in writing this song, he was also sharing his love for Anna and rejoicing over her victory. The theme is very symbolic and you can hear the whole story of He Heard Hannah as you listen to it… from the beauty of her life, to the pain of our loss, and ending with the beautiful result of her journey to Jesus.
7.) – For those of us who know parents that are losing or have lost children- what can you share with us that will be helpful for us to give them the support that they need?
Healing takes time and while those who love us want to speed it up, it’s just not something that can go fast. I think it’s extremely important to never make a loved one feel they are grieving too long or wrong in any way (we all grieve differently). A little encouragement and support goes a long way. *But I suggest a lot of encouragement and support. J
I think the most helpful thing my loved ones did for me was just be there – saying “I love you”… offering help with practical things, making me eat, giving hugs, and providing companionship.
8.) -Your Book- He Heard Hannah- as well as your 1st book, are very Open, honest and humble about your path into marriage, motherhood, loss and grief. Your Books encourage the reader, unique in their own circumstance to go beyond their own ability to understand, but to gain from what God has for them. Where are you now in your walk with faith, loss and grief? Do you mind sharing that with us?
I am pleased to share that my heart has healed. I am truly happy and fulfilled in my life in every way! Does that mean I don’t struggle as a mother, a wife, a friend… a person? No way. I’m still a sinner saved by the grace of Jesus. I lack many things in character and still fail… probably every day. However, I have a heart to serve Jesus and I think my greatest desire is to encourage others to live abundant and fruitful lives.
9.) – On a more light-hearted note- It is so clear to those of us that you know you, and from reading your books, that you are a very close family unit…. What are some favorite things you do as a family – for fun, for worship, and for healing?
You’re right! We are a very close family. Suffering together, as a family, has been something that has produced a great bond of love between us. We all healed together and helped each other through the process (we all had our own unique struggles).
We do just about everything together! We worship together (have been part of family integrated churches for about 13 years). We enjoy singing around the piano (and often pull our guests over to the piano to sing with us). We are movie watchers (we all love a great story) and movie makers (we all love creating great stories!). We like discussing life together around the dining room table (sometimes the little guys end up under the table). We love eating together (who doesn’t?), laughing together over YouTube videos, creating YouTube videos…
Gosh! Seriously we pretty much do everything together! Ha! I wouldn’t have it any other way! My family inspires me in every way!
10.) – For those that are just really wanting to ask – How DO you know September? And is she as crazy silly as she looks? 🙂
September is actually a little sillier than she looks. Ha! I met Em (my pet name for her) when Anna was a baby – but it was only through the Internet. We’ve kept in touch off and on for many years now (about 13), but we met in real life for the first time at a blogging conference in 2010. (She was exactly as I expected her to be and we weren’t the least bit uncomfortable with each other.)
I’ve discovered Em could be a really great private Investigator (Oh my goodness, her imaginations are insanely funny!)… she sleeps with a fan – a big fan… she says things like a northerner (beg for bag and stuff like that)… and she has a heart as big as … well, really, really big!
